Yahoo! Kids

Today’s FamilyFirst site is one that has been covered in the past, but it has had such a makeover that it deserves a second look.
Early in the game, Yahoo! Figured out that kids need their own home page, and anything that is linked there would need to pass some pretty stringent standards as far as good taste was concerned. After all, we don’t need our children and grandchildren clicking on sites that don’t contain content suitable for them.
So, they created Yahooligans. It’s also known as Yahoo! Kids. Here’s their mission:

Yahoo! Kids is a browsable, searchable directory of Internet sites for kids. Each site has been carefully checked by an experienced educator to ensure the content and links are appropriate for kids aged 7-12. In addition to our directory, we also have a number of fun features, including Yahoo! Kids Games, Sports, and News pages, Movies, Animals, Science, and Dinosaurs, a Reference section, Parents’ and Teachers’ Guides, a Cool page, and lots more.

It’s a good site to bookmark on your kids’ browsers. The Flash-loaded front end has lots of fun options for them, including kid-safe videos, jokes, questions to ask Earl, and a Study Zone, which will make that tedious schoolwork just a bit more enjoyable.
Have fun, kids!
