Welcome to the White House

I received an email from President Clinton on Friday. Actually it was a news release from the White House, but still it is nice to know that the President actually had some involvement in this one. It announced the debut of the overhauled website for the White House. Since we at Family Site of the Day have visited this site before, I thought it would be nice to see just what kind of changes they have made.
For one, the home page looks totally different. It is more menu driven that before, but utilizes more hyperlinks than previously. There is a Gateway to Government, sort of a directory for agencies within our capitol. The ways to contact the White House are listed, as well as a history of the building. The accomplishments of the current administration are listed, with separate sections for the President and Vice-president. There is also an electronic tour of the house, as well as information on how to take an in-person tour.
The White House will shortly be undergoing its 5th major building project, the first since the administration of President Truman. This house is truly a treasure of our free society, and one which we should cherish dearly. Enjoy your visit here today.
