Vince and Larrys Safety City

You can learn a lot from a dummy. That was a line from a series of popular and informative public service ads that have been running nationwide for more years than I care to remember. The main characters in the Public Service Announcments are a pair of crash dummies named Larry and Vince. They are employed by NHTSA to test out different types of car restraints, seat belts and air bags. And they are fun to watch as well.
Well, Vince and Larry have gone cyberspace. They are now on the Internet, thanks to the U.S. Government and are the focus of todays Family First site. They are the stars of a site called Safety City. Here is a place where young children can learn about the aspects of everyday safety from crossing the street without looking, to wearing seat belts, to the proper way to ride a bicycle. There are games to play along the way, as well as pictures to draw and color. The information contained is very well presented, and is appropriate for younger children, many of whom may be getting their first exposure to any kind of safety training. Spending time here with your children can be the ounce of prevention that may make the pound of cure unnecessary.
But this is a fun place to check out, especially with your young one sitting on your lap. Or you may just want to have a place that you can pick up some pointers to help your little people (all by yourself, with no one else looking). This in turn will help you and your children be better prepared for just about any kind of accident or tragedy.
