Tulsa

At presstime, I’m about to get in the car and head to one of my favorite towns to spend the weekend: Tulsa. Tulsa is one of those cites that doesn’t need a state’s name behind it to be recognized, sort of like Chicago, Milwaukee, and LA.
I have changed residences many times in my forty-seven years, but most of the time I’ve lived within an easy drive to Tulsa. Therefore, I’ve become quite familiar with what it has to offer.
Today’s FamilyFirst pick is the Wikipedia entry on T-Town, full of good info about “America’s Most Beautiful City.”

Among its attractions is the fact that it has one of the world’s truly great golf courses, Southern Hills Country Club, home to numerous past US Opens and PGA Championships, and in fact hosting this year’s PGA. I’ll be there this August, cheering on Jerry Kelly, who just happens to have my nephew Eric Meller carrying his clubs.
There’s a lot of fun things to do in Tulsa. From visiting the recently built city Aquarium to paying a visit to Cain’s Ballroom, where a top country, rock and roll, or blues artist may well be appearing, to just walking downtown and admiring the Art Deco of the old and new structures.
You can also go to a Drillers game and see future hopeful Colorado Rockies.
So check out what the city has to offer, and come visit!
