The Unofficial Gettysburg Visitors Guide

Today marks the 141st anniversary of a battle that is synonymous with all that is bad about war. It is also one of the most famous battles of all times. Like Waterloo, Guadacanal, and Valley Forge, its history has transcended the war that it was fought in. I am referring to the Battle of Gettysburg.

The Gettysburg Unofficial Visitors Site is an interesting collection about the battle. Here you find not only the historical events and sites such as the Devils Den, Little Round Top, and Pickets Charge, but you also find out about the little known facts. Find out about John Burns, Elizabeth Thom, and Jennie Wade and their contributions to the battle. There is information about Civil War reenactors, and the events of the 135th anniversary.

There is a lot of American history in this battle, and this site goes a long way towards uncovering it. It is a great place to spend an hour or two if you are interested in US history. Have a great time.

Hey thanks. I checked out this site, it's great. I am a researcher for Ah Hon's Oriental Antiques and Objet d'Art, and although we mainly deal in Oriental and Chinese Antiques, we also do a bit of American stuff. A few years ago I was at Gettysburg. Prior to going to the US I was under the impression that America is just a great big steaming hotbed of salacious cretinism. But once I got there I was amazed at how well they actually do care for, and study their historic sites. Far more than our own City of Stawell, which is run by the Northern Grampians Shire Council under Karen Douglas. This lot seem to think that history is a bad word. Anyway, loved the site.
