The Polar Express

The Family First site has been around for almost 8 years. Over that time we have mentioned many sites, of all kinds, shapes, forms, etc. Several years ago we featured a site about a book about a train that travels to the North Pole. It was an interesting story, and had a special magic to it. Now, a few years later, that book is the subject of what I feel will be the top movie of the holiday season.
This holiday season the Academy Award-winning team of Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Cast Away) reunite for The Polar Express, an inspiring adventure based on the beloved Caldecott Medal children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe. Combining classic storytelling with cutting-edge filmmaking, The Polar Express debuts a highly advanced version of motion capture technology developed and tailored to meet Zemeckis’ uncompromising vision and is the first feature ever to be shot entirely in this format. The movie’s web site compliments the film with cutting edge technology that makes it a pleasure to visit.
This film delivers the magic of the book, and with the acting ability of Hanks, and the directorial talents of Zemeckis, it is truly an enjoyable experience. Be sure to get your popcorn before the film starts, because you won’t want to after it does, you will be rivited to your seat.
