With the activities that are going on in the world today, one thing that can be done to help our young ones understand is to talk to them. We can also show them what is going on by educating them to the history of our nation, and how we have survived similar threats in the past. Seeking out a local museum is one way that you can educate them.

Today’s FamSite is one of the more famous museums in our country, called the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum, and is located physically in New York City, and in cyberspace at the above link. This site tells something about the museum and it’s exhibits. It is located on the USS Intrepid, a former aircraft carrier that was on active duty for 31 years, beginning in World War II. But this carrier is more than just a look at an aircraft carrier. There are planes located here such as an A-12 Blackbird, the worlds fastest aircraft at 3.6 times the speed of sound, and planes stretching from WWII to Desert Storm. There is also located next to the carrier is an actual submarine, the USS Growler, and a destroyer, the USS Edson. There is also a site of the week and other information about this site, including the educational department.

This would be a great experience, a real you-are-there one. If you can get here in person, it will be an experience you won’t forget. If you can’t get there, this site is the next best thing. Enjoy your stop here today.
