The music of Glenn Miller brings nostalgic mood for anyone who hears it. The strains of “Moonlight Serenade”, “String of Pearls”, and “In the Mood” makes one want to get up and dance, or just sit back and enjoy those sounds. The career of Glenn Miller didn’t last past the end of 1944. He was reported missing in action, and like the other veterans we honored over the past weekend, made the ultimate sacrifice. Today’s FamSite is one of the ways his memory is being honored today.

The site is called the Glenn Miller Twinwood Trust. It is a site that tells of the plans to create a museum that celebrates his music, and the impact is has had on his fans in the United Kingdom. Twinwood Farm is a former US Army Air Force base located in Great Britan where Glenn and his USAAF Orchestra gave concerts during World War II. It is also the last place that Major Miller was seen alive, for this is where he departed on December 15th, 1944 for Paris, and was never seen again. This site tells of the efforts to restore this location, and how you can be a part of it.

The music of Glenn Miller will never die. It sounds as fresh today as it did over 50 years ago. Stop on by and find out about the on-going efforts, as well as a little about the man and his music. Enjoy your visit here today.
