The Effects of Television to Our Children

Aside from playing with their smartphones and tablets, children spend a lot of time watching the television. However, too much television can have negative effects to them. According to studies, kids who watch too much television can become depressed and will likely have low self-esteem. Aside from that, here are the other effects of television to our children.
Studies have found out that children who are fond of playing video games including those who spend too much time on computers have a higher probability of having depression, anxiety attacks and emotional distress. There are many reasons that contribute to this problem including radiation from the computer and less social interaction.
In terms of physical interaction, children who are not that exposed to television have good concentration skills and have a more positive behavior. They are likely to keep away from disputes, are more kind to their classmates and they are liked and idolized by their peers. They are more responsible when they don’t have too much television time and they can be relied upon when assigned specific tasks. They also have enough friends to surround them.
As parents, you should learn to limit their television time. Aside from the negative information that they might receive from television, TV shows today give subliminal messages about being vain, having a negative definition on beauty and being focused on too many material things. If you want your kids to become responsible, one good way to motivate them is to limit their TV time.
