The American Immigrant Wall of Honor

One of the hobbies I have developed using computers is tracking my family’s roots. It is so much easier to organize the records using a well-written genealogical program, rather than just tossing notes and papers and letters into a brief case. I still have the briefcase, but now it holds a laptop computer among all the notes, papers and letters.
Today’s site is one that will be handy for everyone who is interested in finding out more about their family past, or those who already know about it. America is a melting pot of cultures, with our roots stretching to all corners of the world. The slogan “Give me your tired, your hungry…” is well known to most Americans. A good portion of us have relatives that have passed through a place called Ellis Island when they arrived in this country. Ellis Island is where at one time all immigrant non-Americans passed into our country. This site, The American Immigrant Wall of Honor, seeks to honor these people who have helped to make our country what it is today. Here one can learn about what being an immigrant meant, honor you parents or grandparents or great-grandparents, find out more about your roots, and where to find out about them. It is a site that honors the diversity of our country, and how from many we became one.
It is hard to imagine the trials and hardships our forefathers went through, that we may enjoy what freedoms we have today. Here is a site that helps to educate and honor without demeaning anyone. It show that we truly are “…one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all”.
