The America The Beautiful Fund

“This land is your land, this land is my land…”
So goes the folk song. The country that we live in is our responsibility to maintain, and eventually pass on to our children. Giving them a clean place to live, fresh air to breath, and clean water to drink is a very important part of that responsibility. How we accomplish it is the subject of today’s FamSite.
Called the America the Beautiful Fund, it was born of a desire to preserve our national heritage by assisting community-level programs and projects to save the natural and historic environment and improve the quality of life. This was done with the assistance of First Lady LadyBird Johnson, and has grown and developed in to more than 50,000 citizen initiated volunteer projects. These programs were supported through ABF’s Operation Green Plant, Rediscover America, and American Landscapes programs. Espcially moving is the Memorial Tree Groves Project, which is an effort develp a living and lasting tribute to the events of September 11th, 201.
So if you want to help make this land a better place for your children, a visit here can go a long way to helping start that. Who knows what will come out of just such a visit.
