No one can doubt the forever effect the late Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc, will have on the planet.

In a recent press release from Olivia Fox Cabane, a speaker, coach and leadership trainer, she observes the evolution of Jobs over the years at Apple and his 7 techniques that made him such an effective speaker.

He went from shy and hiding behind the lectern and his notes to owning the stage with very effective presentation skills. Here are the 7 Cabane identified:

Outstanding eye contact

Few yet deliberate hand gestures

Carefully orchestrated speeches

Magician techniques such as a black stage, black clothing and a stark white G4 cube for super contract

Clear, concise language

“One More Thing” became his signature close – which he most likely swiped from TV’s Columbo

Humility and vulnerability – making fun of himself and even product defects but still showing what Cabane calls awe and wonder.

We can all learn a little bit from Jobs’ speaking techniques while remembering what a master he was in so many other ways. Please comment with your favorite Apple or Steve Jobs story.
