Ah, the honor system.
It's still around, if you look hard.
We had a restaurant in my area back in the 70's that operated on the honor system. You ordered a meal, enjoyed it, then payed what you thought it was worth.
They lasted three months. That's a sad commentary on my locale in the 70's.
