One of the fond memories I have of my service in the Navy was the actual time at sea. There is an aura of being out in the middle of the ocean, completely out of sight of land. It is really brought home the traditions and history of not just the navy, but of seafaring as well.

One of the most fascinating portions of my grandparent's house was the attic. There they kept artifacts and momentos of their life together, which was the history of our family. It was great to visit and learn about distant relatives and stories about where we came from.
