I watched The Rookie last night. The movie was a blast on several levels.
First of all, it was released with a "G" rating. And it made a boatload of money with that "kiddie" rating, in an age when cartoon movies will drop a slightly suggestive moment in to gain a "PG" rating, simply to make the ... continue reading...

If you were a kid in the 60's, you knew where you would be on Wednesday and Thursday nights. You would be plopped down in front of your TV set watching Batman!
The show, so bad it was good, was a huge hit its first season, and a high performer for two more. It still lives on in... continue reading...

When I was a kid in the 60's, there was a cartoon on that had an unforgettable theme song sung by a choir of kids. It was called AstroBoy.
It turns out it was a Japanese production, and was actually one of the first forms of the animated art known as anime.
I don't remember any of that. I just... continue reading...

As a kid growing up, I remember a truly amazing character I used to watch on TV. He was handicapped (apparently blind in one eye), was a chain smoker, and was prone to using violence to accomplish his aims. He had a girlfriend who was built like a stick who was the object of many bad... continue reading...

When I was in school, the one subject that I HATED was math. There just wasn't anything the least bit interesting about putting numbers together, taking them away, etc. etc.
Well, had the internet been around way back in the 60's and 70's, I might have taken a little better to arithmetic with a ... continue reading...

When the "Peanuts" comic strip went away afte the passing of Charles Schulz, I got to thinking how the quality of cartoons and the strips in our newspapers have gone down hill. I remember the adventures of Dick Tracy, Mark Trail, Superman, and others that are long gone. But I found a website... continue reading...

One of the most popular parts of the newspaper (whether we admit it or not) is the comic strips. In my local paper, they are all featured on two pages together, in others they are spread around. But they are still popular to read. There is a lot of work and effort that goes into crea... continue reading...

Growing up, one of my favorite cartoon shows was called "Space Angel". It was, when viewed today, very archaic and old fashioned. But is was fun and exciting to watch. But times, and mediums for entertainment change with technology. Today's FamSite will be just as much fun for cyber visitors... continue reading...
