Pilgrimage to Memphis

This past weekend marked the 30th anniversary of another dark event from a year that seemed to be one long nightmare. I know. I lived through it. The messages that come from our collective past are voices that we should listen to. The lessons of the past are what we need to learn from to prevent the promises for tomorrow from becoming nothing but the figment of our imagination.
The site today is called Pilgrimage to Memphis, and is a tribute to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Here you can learn about the final days of one of the great visionaries of the civil rights movement, a man who was truly blind to the color of a man’s skin. Here his speeches ring out with the same messages that they did in 1968. The question is, have we as a nation learned from them? If we have, then we need to go forward and ensure that they don’t happen again. If we haven’t, then spending some time at this site will help to understand the true meaning of what it means to live in the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
