Nick-at-Nite’s TV Land

Has anyone noticed that over the past few years, there seems to have been a rash of movies that were based on hit television shows from the 1960′s? There have been films based on The Addams Family, The Brady Bunch, Flipper, The Beverly Hillbillies, and McHale’s Navy. There is even one in the works for Green Acres (I wonder who will play Arnold Ziffel?).
Fortunately, for cybervisitors who have never experienced those fantastic shows, there are two places to see them. One is on the cable television channel Nick at Nite’s TV Land, and the other is our site of the day called (what else) Nick at Nite’s TV Land. This site is dedicated to those shows featured on the cable network, shows such as Mr. Ed, Hogan’s Heroes, Petticoat Junction, Ed Sullivan, the list goes on and on. There is an incredible amount of information here, and it is presented in a game format, The Good, the Weird and the Wonderful. There is a variety of video and audio clips for download (called 40 Years in a Blender), as well as an up-to-date TV listing.
The only thing that would make this site better is to have the ability to watch the network itself. Like our cartoon page from yesterday, this site is filled with nostalgia in every corner. Enjoy the stop.
ADDENDUM:
This site is one of the sites featured in the new book called “Internet Family Fun: The Parent’s Guide to Safe Surfing”, by Bonnie Bruno and Joel Comm. They are residents of World Village (in fact, Joel is the Mayor), and have been working on this work for almost a year. It is an excellent reference for any parent who is computer-challenged, and whose kids aren’t. In the coming weeks, I will be featuring sites from the book, to show the depth and wealth of information contained in it. It is available from World Village on-line, so visit the home page for details.
