My Mission

Of all the travels and visits I have made around the world, one that I remember with great fondness is to one of the subjects of today’s FamSite. The name of the place I visited was Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. The name of the FamSite is called My Mission.

My Mission is a site that is dedicated to the 21 missions that were founded in the state of California during the 18th and 19th centuries by Spanish explorers. The intention of the site, is, in the words of the creator, is “to stimulate all your senses – to exert a spell that one experiences when actually strolling through one of the mission gardens and cloisters”. In this attempt she succeeds admirably. These buildings and grounds are the oldest relics on the west coast, and are true treasures of our history. At this site you can visit each mission, find out about their history, and view some excellent crafts and arts, which are available for purchase.

The memories I have of the one visit to a California mission is truly captured in this site. Have a nice visit, and enjoy the same memories that I have enjoyed.
