Meet the Real J.K. Rowling

One of the most anticipated books ever printed will be in today. It is the latest in a series of books that have enthralled youngsters over the past few years. It is responsible for making more children interested in reading than any other series of books (to which I can attest to). So for the next few days the Family Site of the Day will be spending some time with young Harry Potter.

Today’s site is one where visitors can meet the author of the books, J.K. Rowling. At this site you can read about how this Exter University graduate created the first book by writing it at a cafe while her young daughter napped. There are links to the books, a screensaver, a discussion chamber where you can talk about the books with other readers, and a special wizard’s challenge.

This is a great place for anyone who is unfamiliar with Harry and his world. Be sure to share this one with a friend.

Hello, if you ever read this J.K. Rowling then itwill be great. Ignore what the other people say, i thought all of your books were brilliant. Ron was my favourite because he always made me laugth. i have re-read all of the books and have watched all of the movies. I think i am harry potters number one fan and yours. thank you for all of your hard work going into these books. it must have took you ages to come up with it all. This final Harry Potter book was attrocious. It was lacking in so many details that I've come to expect from Rowling's books. The plot was acceptable...for a teenager's earlier work, but not for an adult. The dialogue was eratic. Much of it was something you'd expect to see a child write while other portions were well done. Makes me wonder if she had someone else collaborating with her on this novel. I'm quite disappointed in this book. If she needed more time to finish it, I'm sure her publishers would have given her as much time as she'd want. If the book was running long, I'm betting the publisher would have been happy to make it into two books. But making a bad book that's butchered a great story that she's created is very disapointing. I wish I'd never started reading these novels.

JK Rowling was very sneaky in the "Yes and No" killing of Harry Potter. Then the 19 yrs later epiloge was very touching and final. She let Harry go out in style...

I absollutley love your books! although the only two things in the sieries that upset me r that Sirious died and there r only seven books...;_; but I love all the detail you put into your books and make then VERY exciting for those who read. I tryed to write something on fanficnet and it was horrible! (although ppl said it was quite good.) I am amazed at how yyou make your books so wonderful! I just finished reading all of J.K Rowlings books twice and amm a huge Harry Potter fan, i wish i wasnt a muggle!!! She is an amazing writer, and I wish she would continue writting the series. I am only 11, and now I wont have any more reading material if she doesnt continue!!! Please hurry with the next book!!! :]The only thing i am upset about is having Dumbledore and Sirius die! I understand one must die for the adventure and the story line, but why both?!? Also, is Harry going to be killed in book 7!?! I hope not!

Dear J K Rowling. I am eleven yrs old and have read all your books at least 3 million times. Me and my mom take turns reading them ever scince i was in second grade.We had to do a report on you this year in 6th grade. When my teacher, Mr. Martin, told us about this project i didnt hear him becouse i was reading the 6th Harry Potter book behind my history book. The report had too be at least five pages font 13 double spaced. I barely squeezed it into 23 pages font 12 single spaced. When i am grown up I would like to be a author and i love fantasy books such as harry potter. You dont have to write me back or anything but i was looking through the disney magazine a while ago and they interviewed the girl that ended up being luna lovegood and she said that she e-mailed you and you wrote back and seeing as how you are my biggest idol i thought that it would be so cool if you wrote back to me. Sorry I lost control on my last entry. I sometimes forget Harry Potter is fiction. Like half the rest of the world I am a fanetic.They should have a crazy fans support group. Firstoff, the Harry Potter series is GREAT. My favortie book was the fifth, even though it was sad. I felt more emotion when Dubledore died than Sirius. I wanted to know if Dumbledore is an Animagus of a phoenix, and, if Harry can talk to him when he is a portrait is the Headmaster's Office.

I really wanna thank you for writing such a WONDERFUL, AMAZING and REMARKABLE story, just so you know 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' was the first book I ever read, Your FANTASTIC books inspired me, and after that you would always find a book in my bag or on my bedside, I became so addicted to reading that I started to write stories of my own, and I hope one day I become a good writer as good as you? I love the 'Harry Potter' books and the scene in 'The Half Blood-Prince' where Dumbledore is burried moved me to tears, but as much as I enjoied the 6th book I cannot deny that I have found a mistake. In chapter 24, 'Sectumsempra' on page 487, you have spelt rewarded, r_e_w_o_r_d_e_d. Although I am only an 11 year old boy, please listen to my request. Upon further publication of the book, may you fix your mistake.

ms. jk rowling i have a few questions about Sirius's death, its brilliant how u write but i still get this feeling that he's not dead but in the land of dead. Plus i am sure the death eater only sent a stunning spell which means Sirius fell through the veil stunned and still in the land of dead. I know you said in ur interviews that Sirius is gone never coming back thats just how it is. Well i was thinking maybe in the 7th book harry could visit the land of dead.

As of late I have been rather disgusted by Rowlings latest books. The series was brillant until the last books. The fourth book was not what I'd call impressive and the last book was one of the biggest peices of trash that I have read. Sirius Black was the best character in the book and she killed him off for no real reason, but to have some drama. Dumbledore is the most ridiculous character in the whole book, and Snape is just boring. Yet she puts all the attention on these two characters. The second great disapointment was Harry's additude. Is Rowling trying to make her books into some stupid teen angst? As far as I can see the next book better be her best, because she is losing fans very quickly.

I'm reading the 5th Harry potter book right now. I have a couple of questions I want to ask you. One, does the D.A. (Dumbledor's Army) ever come back? I know Umbridge caugt them during the D.A. meeting but if Umbridge is gone there's nothing wrong with haveing a secret group. But then again if the finally get a good Defence against the Dark Arts teacher they really don't need to know anything extra. Or do they. This was my first question. Also, do Harry and Cho Chang ever make up and get back together? I think they should because they loved each other alot. Harry just made one tiny mistake and because of that Cho and Harry broke up. I also have a couple of recemondations for the 6th and 7th Harry Potter book. I think that if Harry and Cho never get back together Harry and Hermione should fall in love with each other and start dateing each other. That would work out more because Harry's known Hermione since the day of his first year on the Hogwarts express. I don't remember knowing Cho existed until the 3rd or 4th book. So clearly Harry's known Hermione for at least 2 or 3 years longer than Cho. That is why I think Harry and Hermione dateing makes more sense than Harry and Cho dateing. I also think that in the future books Harry should get surrounded by Death Eaters that are werewolfs. They surrounded Harry in the Forbidden Forest. Don't ask me how they got there I don't know. The death eaters forgot it was a full moon that night so they chased Harry into the foret then a full moon comes. Harry trys to make a run for it. He makes it out of the circle that they surrounded him in. But Harry is not going to stop running there. Harry keeps running. After about five minites he stops and turns around. There behind him is a group of fully grown werewolfs. They are all raceing at full speed at Harry. Harry picks up speed and runs for his life. Some how Harry gets away with out a scrach on him. J.K.Rowling I know this is long but I just love your books. They're the best books in the world. Please write back to me.

I'm probably the only person who applaudes J.K. Rowling for killing off Sirius. Now before other fans start getting mortified, I say this not out of hate for Sirius Black (he was one of my very favorite characters)but because it gave the story so much depth, it's what really set apart the fifth from the rest. It was sooo sad and made me cry, but that's what makes it awesome!!! If an author canmake you cry over someone who isn't real...well that's awesome!!! I still kinda wish she wouldn't haave killed him off. You don't know who'll die next, so don't waste all your energy on Sirius. mourning Sirius, HP #1 Fan

One thing that I'm confused about is in book 3, how could Harry stop the Dementors from "killing" himself? Let me put it this way, the Dementor lowered its full face covering hood, grabbed Harry and began to move its soul-sucking mouth to his lips, and Harry is about to drown in fear and lose his soul. And then the Patronus comes from nowhere and drives the dementors away. If harry from 3 hours ahead who cast the spell didnt cast that spell, the present time harry would have lost his soul indefinatly.....but..... ...how did harry survive the dementor attack in order to BECOME the harry who went back 3 hours to cast the Patronus spell to save himself. This just isnt possible. If harry went FORWARDS into the future to save his future self, well, thats more easy to accept...but how can you go back in time to save yourself from a fate worse than death? since its impossible for harry to go back 3 hours once the dementor eats his soul. Because Losing your soul makes you empty, like a emotionless drone who wont even recognise their own reflection (yes, soulless beings have a reflection, they just wont recognise themselves) I'm thinking that its the Omega brilliant (second to the legendary Gandalf) Dumbledore who went back in time to save harry since harry was delerious from the dementors affect on him and thought he saw his father when it was really Dumbledore who saved him (or dumbledore thought ahead and cast a Illusion spell so harry will think its his dad who cast the spell), because THEN the dementors flee and dumbledore Thinks hard and has faith in harry and hermione and gets them to go back in time and rescue themselves....so Dumbledore would move out of the way from the bushes when Harry arrives back in time to save himself. This makes sense and sounds more plausiable....PLEASE can someone get Rowling to make Dumbledore mention this in the next books since this will prvent a Paradox which ruins beleivibility. So, lets see now. In one dimention/reality, Harry, Hermione and Sirius are attacked by dementors, their souls are eaten and they are rendered soulless, emotionless empty husks, and Buckbeak was definatly executed. The Dumbledore from this dimention feels he needs to save them from this disaster and he uses the Timeturner to go back in time to when the dementors attack and ward them off (he cant go save buckbeak since he's allready there). This creates a new reality where Harry, Hermione and Sirius are now safe and alive, yet Sirius WILL lose his soul and Buckbeak is still dead (and the dumbledore from the old reality remembers ALL what happened still) Then he tells harry and Hermione to go and save Buckbeak and then themselves and Sirius. They do so, hence why Dumbledore seemed to know why Buckbeak survived since in his origional dimention/reality, he knew Buckbeak dies from a clarvoyant vision. Then Harry from the second reality saves himself (with dumbledore safely hidden and watching him) and saves Buckbeak, himself, Hermione and Sirius. This creates yet another Dimention/Reality which we see now. So the real saviour is Dumbledore, If he had not saved harry from the dementors, he would not only lose 2 Students, but also a innocent Hippogriff is slaughtered and a Innocent mans soul is gone along with Harrys and Hermiones and nothing would prevent Voldemort from tearing the world to ribbons. Dumbledore is one wise man. I assume he's clarvoyant because he obviously knew Buckbeak would die and saving harry would mean saving more than one life since he needed to put faith in harry as I said above, dumbledore cant save buckbeak if he's allready there. Also the poster above me is right, the killing Curse is Green. Bella cast a stunning or pain inflicting spell at Sirius. Sirius disapeared because he passed through the veil into the afterlife (heaven) and his body turned from Organic into spiritual.

Who said he is really dead?, He was knocked backwards by Bellatrix curse (spell, jinx?) and fell on the archway, Tonks and Moody also fell, when took the worst part of their duels, and they weren't dead; and the killing curse is a flash of green ligth not a red one as the rays Bella was shooting at Sirius, and even if the redaction is not specific, to me it seems that even if Luna is right and dead people is beyond the Veil, they get there when they die, Sirius fell accidentally and he is not necessary dead. Even if he is not able to return from beyond the Veil, given the nature of the Harry potters fiction, I hope that we will be reading about "Stubby Boardman" in future books. (If not, its only a resource of the author to get kids and audience in general in contact with the hard and unavoidable fact that people's deaths tragic or not are in the end UNAVOIDABLE, and her intentions are not that bad either)

I really didn't like harry in the 5th book. He turned into a miniture James...i was bullied in school and i know how it feels. I feel a lot more for Ron's character because I have a large family and know what it feels like to be left out and feel depressed and worst of all.....to be second best in everything. No matter how hard i tried. ( Woes of Mrs Weasley is a perfect chapter that shows examples harry being a jerk. He may change his mind...but he thought of Ron that way in the first place. He lost a lot of my respect) i hope Harry opens his eyes and realises how great a friend he has before it's too late. (and i'm not talking about death. There are worser tings in life than death).

Well, although I did throughly enjoy the 5th book I do agree with quite a lot of readers; it seemed to rushed and ended up feeling incomplete. An achievement which all of her previous books have been able to obtain. Harry seems like a right little twat and too much has been thrown into the mix and has come out all over the place. The pace of the story needed to be slowed down for the reader to fully absorb and enjoy; but instead seemed too quicken in an attempt to reach the end. I don't like being hurried when I'm reading; I love to read becuase I like to be somewhere different and enjoy taking my time when in that place. I wasn't really that surpirised by Sirius's death (probably because a friend spoilt it for me; nice friend huh) but I was a lot more concerened about where Ron and Hermione are heading. I read J.K. Rowling's interview that she conducted on the net only moments ago and was devestated to read that, when asked whether Hermione would and up with Harry (URG!) she laughed and answered that she wouldn't answer; and that there should be enough clues out there by now. I was so put off by that, but more so when I found out that Hermione's middle name is 'Jane' and Harry's is 'James'. Hermione Jane and Harry James! I stared at the computer for nearly a full minute, mouth open and heart wrenching, before I blinked again and reacted. Tears started to swell in my eyes and my stomach slowly sunk through the floor. I know, I know; they're just fictional charcaters. MAKE BELIEVE. But the characters have become so real to me they are like people I have known nearly all my life. I seriously hope that the name thing was just a coincidnece and not some way of J.K Rowling making Harry and Hermione seem like the perfect couple. I would seriously not be able to read any of the other books if Harry ended up with Hermione and not Ron. Ron deserves so much more than he gets in the books. He deserves to be known by more than just being 'Harry Potter's best friend' or 'One of the Weasley's'. I love him the most out of all the characters (his twin brothers close behind) and would completely dispise the genius of J.K Rowling if she placed him second to Harry. He may thnk it (as it has been proved in the 5th book) but Harry is above no-one.

I cant beleive that siris black died. He was like the best character in the book. I hate jk.rowling for taking him out of the book. I was really disapointed with the 5th book I thought it was going to be really good. But it turned out to be really bad. Harry Potter and the order of the pheonix was just as suspensful and enjoyable as the other 4 books. However the fact of Sirius dying was quite depressing but was Rowling's decission to make. Ive been reading some of the other posts and dont understand why someone would be mad at an author for writing her imagination. Undoubtly Rowling knows where she is going with this and this is her story so she can do what she pleases. It is the persons choice to read the book(s) and if you dont like the way she's writing then dont read it. It would become a bit boring if everything was happy go lucky. Every story needs a twist whether good or bad. Also there have been several complaints about Harry Potter's mood in the 5th book and if you actually stop and think about it you would relize that he is acting as any boy that age would be. He's suffering and he's going through puberty so what would you expect. All teenage boys are moody at that age and more tempermental and have that 'just leave me alone' attitude when they are ticked off soo it's not highly unusual that Rowling would portray him in that manner. I am eagerly awaiting the 6th book and hope anyone with info about the release of it would please email me. Im sure her 6th book will have some explanations to what happend in the 5th book. To Rowling: You have a wonderful and vibrant imagination that i can only dream to have when I become an adult. Your work is thrilling and appropriate for all ages and you deserve every penny you recieve for all of this. I know that your next 2 books will be just as wonderful as the last 5. It was a tight, touching, clever plot, with a lot of hope in it. As with real deaths, I'm in denial. I'm not sure I can go on reading these books anymore. I think anger, death, and denial are things that I and other people know too much of already. I want to read more about hope, truth, and goodness.

this is just a conjecture on what could happen in the next two books, but there have been references to Tom Riddle's eyes in the books and there have been references to Lily's eyes as well. It is interesting in that they look alike. Could Lily somehow be related to Voldemort? Was he going to spare her? Or was he angry that she was a member of the Order and not a Death Eater and could that be why she killed him? Just a thought

I liked the fifth book aot, although Sirius had to die. I hope in one of the books, Gilderoy Lochart comes back(He's my favourite chacter.. but not because he doesnt realy like Harry). I'm going to write an eighth book when Harry's the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but it go's terribaly wrong and Harry gets sent to Azkaban and brakes out near the end of the book. Too many loose ends turning up in the book and some things that would stir interest: 1. At the end of book 4, why did Harry not see the creatures drawing the coaches to remove the students to Hogsmeade instead of during book 5? 2. What deleterious effect does the spider venom in Harry’s blood, suffered when fighting the spider with Cedric, have on Voldemort’s abilities and or health? Conversely, what positive effects may many tears of the Phoenix have on Harry’s already advanced abilities? 3. With Harry’s extraordinary powers - his own lineage combined with Tom Riddle’s (Voldemort) - when will he realize (recalling his making the glass disappear, jumping high, and other unexplained instances of magic when he had neither inkling nor wand, that He does not always need a wand for powerful magic? Did Dumbeldore realize that Voldemort would not always be able to touch Harry? Also, from Harry’s past, death eaters and even Dumbeldore in your books, when will Harry realize he does not have to speak but only concentrate on many/most/all spells? 4. Will you do something silly like have Voldemort fall pray to a Fred or George Weasley’s joke, and be transformed into something during a critical period in his plans? Alternatively, a joke wand during a fight with Dumbeldore that diminishes Voldemort’s powers? 5. Has Harry has mastered Occlumency by his return to Hogwarts? 6. When will some of Lily’s traits (besides love), be exhibited in Harry? Strong potions? Cleverness? 7. Does Percy go to the dark side with his lust for success? 8. Will Harry be magnanimous (one of his character strengths) toward the Dursley’s, specifically his blood aunt, and give a present to his aunt, pearls or something he can purchase in the wizarding world with his money, thus perpetuating the charm and winning them to some degree? 9. Do Ron and Hermione get together in this book? 10. How big of gains will Harry make over this summer in skill and maturity? At least better than his father who didn’t have some of Voldemort’s skills? 11. Will Harry ever hire Dobby for his own room/household? Thus gaining another tutor as his skills increase? Also, will Winky find a home and happiness with the Weasley’s, something Molly has longed for? 12. How much will Ginny increase in skill so she can help Harry in his time of need? 13. Does Harry inherit all of Sirius’ belongings, thus having his own home but keeping his aunt’s residence to call home? 14. Why can Dobby disappear and reappear in Hogwarts? Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the best book in the series yet. But the only downfall was Sirius dying. I never experienced seeing death the way Harry had, but when he started thinking about Sirius always being there for him and doing whatever he can to get to Harry, who can't relate? It was a tragic event but it was well put into the story... I hope Lupin doesn't die too... he and Sirius made such a big impact on Harry, considering they were like brothers with James.

I have a couple of this to say, 1st of all, shouldn't Harry have seen the horse things before, after he got rid of Proffesor Quirrel in the First book! And I know u r brilliant and all Ms. Rowling, but why did Sirus die, another question, was the spell that Sirus got hit with the same on as the purple one that hit Hermione? if so he should come back! if he can get out of the veil thing and if someone can help him, right? i do think Harry was a bit more moody in the book, but isn't that natural for teens anyway? And how would u like it if your last remaining guardian died?! Please Ms. Rowling, e-mail me! Sirius will return.... he has to... When I thought me and my boyfriend were breaking up I didn't shed a tear, When I read about Sirius's "death" I sobbed uncontrollably for hours. I also ended up dumping my boyfriend two days after reading the book because *cough* yes I um... have some... serious... unresolved... issues... with falling in love with "fictional" characters. Sigh. Come back, Padfoot.

i had an idea...to maybe extend it a bit..:\ i thought that she might be able to write a series about when harry's parents and their friends went to school. well...i thought it could be interesting...?? so...if you like the idea of it...well first of all we could find out how lily and james got together, how sirius and james became best friends, hpw remus was attacked and bitten by a werewolf, how voldemort became so powerfuk and ect...so if you like the idea..please tell me here and spread it on to other people and other sites...PLEASE. thank you for your time and hopefully my idea is a success!!!! ~misty!~ p.s. dani, it was because he fell into the veil.

I think J.K. Rowling is a BRILLIANT writer and I loved the fifth book in the Harry Potter series but I was, like everyone else, very sad about Sirius's death. He was the last person that Harry could look to as a parent figure. But I know from experience that in her books, J.K. Rowling has a reason for everything. I am pretty sure that there is a reason for Sirius's death that will be later explained in the sixth or seventh book. (I am, however, hoping and praying that Harry does get to see or talk to Sirius again.) I also did not understand how exactly Sirius died. Was it because he fell through the veil or because of the curse that his cousin hit him with? I am hoping Rowling will explain this in her next book. All in all, I LOVED the fifth book and all the books before it and I am DREADING the time when the series ends. I hope J.K. Rowling will change her mind and keep writing about what happens to Harry after Hogwarts.

I just hope that mad eye won't die... and as for bellatrix, I want her to get a little kiss from a dementor... muahahahaha!!! also, voldemorts gotta be pretty thick to not know that there's something worse then death, i mean, he has the dementors on his side... (at least i think he does) and he doesn't even know that the dementors kiss is worse then death, my God. it clearly states in the third book, when harry is talking to remus, harry skes what's under the dementors hood and then remus explains what he thinks is under there (considering he's never seen one) then, he explains their little kissing effect... muahahahaha dementors are cool!!!

I think that the book waz great but i think that Sirus death was pointless. I mean he died 4 to paarticlar reason in no paarticular way!! I mean what was the archway beyond the viel anyways and Beliatrix didnt hit him with a avada kedavera curse so how did he die and why waz everyone wathching silently while he fell through the archway!!(I mean Dumbledore waved his wand and rounded up all the death eaters in one corner what waz stopping him from pulling Sirus back when he fell?) And why did harry and Luna only hear the voices that were coming form behing the viel and not the rest of them.....does it have to do with the death thing? And if Voldemort was going to come to the ministry anyways why did he go through all the trouble of bringing harry and his friends there anywaz!! Lots of the last part in the book made no sense at all............i hope rowiling explains it in the next 2 books cuz these questions are driving my nutz!! I enjoyed the fifth book almost as much as the fourth (my favorite). I was however angry because it seems as though Sirius died needlessly, he was one of my favorite characters and the only family Harry has. I was also disappointed with Harry's overall character in this book, he was not his usual self, too moody,broody and emotional. I realize that an author has every right to mold a story any way she pleases, but if MS. Rowling has any words of comfort for me they would be much appreciated, thanks

I just finished Harry Potter 5 and I must say it was slow at the beggining but after about page 400 I couldn't put the book down. Though I still don't understand one thing? Why is this bond between blood so strong when Voldemort killed many brothers and sisters and fathers and sons together? Why was it just Harry who had the strong bond of blood with his mother? There are still many questions left unanswered but I hope that the sixth and seventh are the answers. Way to go Rowlings your book rocked....Again

I just finsh reading the fifth book and I'm wondering if there was a good point of having Sirius die, it was really shocking and so sad that I started crying.I mean that was a little mean of having Harry's godfather die when they started to really get alonge and know each other like true family.Also the book seems to be the best I readed so far! I couldn't almost put the book down.Also Mrs.Rowling please E-mail me back for the reason or a good idea of sirius being dead, I would really love to hear why or at least a hint if there's a good out turn in the next book.Lots seem sad about this PLEASE let him come back somehow.

I finished the 5th book and I must say, I'm very disappointed. Even though she didn't have a deadline, there were too many loose ends. It seems like she was rushed at the end to get it out the door. I thought the book was terrible in the beginning, but got a lot better as things went along. Rowling tore down everything we knew and felt safe. Privot drive wasn't safe anymore, Hogwarts wasn't safe, too many new places to absorb to make up for all of this. From chapter 33-on, it was right up to par with her other work. I didn't like the ending - way too many open issues, like: What about Percy Weasley? After that terrible letter to Ron in the middle of the book, I was really disappointed that he didn't get set right in the end of the book. Fudge was the same - he didn't eat enough crow for all the trouble he caused. Umbridge - I hated her not getting her due. I mean being chased out my peeves is good, but not near enough for what she did to the teachers, Harry and the rest of the students. We never heard if she was punished or fired to sicking the Dementors on Harry in the beginning of the book, or for torturing him while doing lines, or for trying to use an unforgivable curse on him. We didn't even get to see what the Centaurs did to her. Speaking of Centaurs, we didn't get to see how Albus got her back. We didn't get to see anything new between Ron and HG. And all that stuff leading up to Harry and Cho - what was the point? It went nowhere. And what about that "death chamber?" What was that about? The only satisfying ending piece was seeing Lucius going to prison and Draco having to know Harry sent him there. That was sweet! As for the rest.... I don't know. I also see a problem with the Threstrals. Why didn't Harry see them at the end of book 4? When the carriages picked them all up, no mention of Harry seeing them, even though Sedric was already dead. Also, I think we shouldn't have had to wait for the OWLs to come out in July. Rowling could have told us, in some way, how Harry, Ron and HG did on their tests. Just another, of many, loose ends. And we didn't find out what house won the cup or what Dumbledore said during the end of year feast. That was a mistake. Sirius's death was not shocking, we all new well in advance somebody close to Harry was going to die. But the main thing that I didn't like about this book was Harry's attitude. From the time he was pushing on Dudley in the beginning of the book, through the many explosions of temper in the middle, to the yelling and screaming to Dumbledore in the end - Harry's character seemed different than what we had become accustom to in the previous book. I know Harry is hurting because of the pain and suffering he's had to live through once again, but Harry's come through it all before and came out at least understanding if not happy. The end of this book delivered Harry back to us in a state reminiscent of my daughter's bedroom - a real mess. Dave O

I am a grandma and have read all five books now and like the 5th as the writer does answer some questions but I would like more info on Voldermort and why he became so evil - since he went to school at Hogwarts years ago, who were his parents and why is he so evil. Also hope Mrs. Rowling will not wait too long to get the 6th book out and a friend who is a retired teacher and has read all the books hopes that she will write after number 7 is done - we all want to know what harry does after he leaved Hogwarts

She makes it seem like he vanished into thin air, I personally think he's still alive and that's what I'm gonna beleive! also, don't be that mad at jk rowling, from what I've heared, after she wrote the chapter 'Beyond the Veil" she cried for a week and was unable to write any more chapters because she kept smudging her writing with her tears. Also, I'm hoping that Bellatrix will get something far worse then death *laughs evily* a little kiss from a dementor!

THINK PEOPLE!!! It makes sense (even though I cried so much I had to stop reading for the rest of that night)Sirius was the last 'parent' Harry had. First mom & dad and now his godfather. The good thing is that at the end the way Lupin,Moody,Tank & the Weasley's stood up to the Dursley's for Harry was a sign to all saying look he still has family. Rowlings is a brilliant writer. I cannot wait for Book 6. Please,please do not make us wait too long.To wish I wasn't a muggle. Thanks for the great books.

I just read Harry Potter 5, and I loved it. There is only 1 thing that I didn't like. My favorite charcter, Sirius Black, was killed. Please J.K. Rowling, bring him back somehowin book 6. I thought the fifth HP book was very fulfilling. It answered a lot of my questions, but left just enough of them unanswered to keep me wanting more. I figured Sirius was going to be the one to die. He can't do anything, because he's wanted and if he does anything he gets a little kiss from the dementors. I expected Voldemort to show up more than he did, especially sinse he just came back at the end of the fourth book.

Sirius was the last caring family Harry had.......and after everything that happened to him Sirius was the only thing he had left......I'm forever going to HATE Rowling for killing Sirius!!!!!
