Lt. Smash Live From The Sandbox

Whatever your feelings about the conflict with Iraq, and the ongoing war with terrorism, we still owe the people in the front lines our support and gradtitude for putting themselves in harm’s way. Today’s FamSite is one that takes you to the front lines, to find out about what our men and women are thinking and doing.

The site is called Lt. Smash Live from the Sandbox. This personal log from one soldier stationed somewhere in the Persian Gulf region provides a unique glimpse into the feelings of a man who is prepared to fight. You’ll read about the sandstorms, the birthday call he made to his dad, and his unabashed views on Saddam Hussein. There is a very Bill Maudlin-like feeling of being there with him as you explore this site. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and follow his journey, beginning with a call-up of his reserve unit in early December, then read onward as he makes his way into the field. This engrossing log promises to get more interesting as the drums of war beat louder.

Enjoy your visit here today, and come back soon.
