Kids Web – The Digital Library

Using computers has become common place. The tasks computers are performing today were science fiction only 30 odd years ago. Now they are science fact. This technology has changed how our children are educated. When I was in school, it was called typing. Today it is called keyboarding. When I did research for a school report, I used the library, full of books. Kids today utilize the Internet for most of their research. Today’s Family First Site take a look at a site that provides that sort of research tool that can be very useful.

The site is called Kids Web – The Digital Library for K-12 Students. The name says it all. Their goal is to present students with a site on the Web that is very simple to navigate, and contains information targeted at the K-12 level. Each subject section contains a list of links to information that is understandable and interesting to schoolkids. There are also links to external lists of material on each subject which more advanced students can browse for further information. The latest technology is used. One nice feature is that they have kept the classic version of their site available, just in case your computer (or the ones you children are on) doesn’t have the latest software installed, or doesn’t have the hardware to support it.
There are three major subject areas (Arts, Sciences, and Social Studies) and a miscellaneous area. Each major subject is broken down into subsets, such as Chemistry, Biology/Life Sciences, and Computers for the Sciences area. There are so many subject areas, it could take some time to explore them all, and become familiar with all the information contained here. Kind of like exploring all the corners of a real honest-to-gosh library. This would be a good site to bookmark, as you never know when you’ll need to look up that certain subject.

That link you mention is not on our site, or on the site you visited. Where did you find it?

Why after clicking on a link for hackers jargon did I get directed to a web site called Tuxedo.org and the second item on the page is titled "You Americans are Fu*ed Up"? I thought this was a kids/family first site??? I'm very disapointed and will not come back to this site again.
