Kay Kyser: A Life in Motion

One of the most popular big band leaders was Glen Miller. His orchestra was very successful, yet at the height of his popularity he was jealous of the success of another big band leader, because he made more money. The bandleader that Mr. Miller was jealous of is the subject of today’s FamSite.

Called Kay Kyser: A Life in Motion, it is a site that is a tribute to the ol’ Professor himself. Here you can learn about the new documentary of his life, find out some interesting facts about his career (such as his radio show that had a bigger audience that the Super Bowl) and view some Real Player clips about him and his career.

So the next time you are wondering about Ishkabibble, Sully Mason, and the rest of the Kollege of Musical Knowledge, hope on over to this site. It will be a great nostalgic trip down memory lane.

  3. Cmon'Chillen Yess'Read!! Yes, the kaykyser.net is a great source to read about the ol'professor himself but NOW....JUST RELEASED....the very first full length biography on the man and his band who set Swing music on its' ear than disappeared!! Getting wonderful reviews! I found it was difficult to put this book down. It has many wonderful photographs, color posters, sheet music and magazine covers within its pages and allowed me to clearly visualize what the Swing Era was all about, as well as Kyser's fascinating and honorable life. This book rediscovers and dusts off a wealth of forgotten musical and Hollywood history and is an important part of American music history that has now been preserved for generations to come. The book is 341 pages, includes full KK discography, over 100 photos, rare interviews with Kay Kyser, his band members, and the Kyser family and of course the full life story of the Ol'Professor himself. There are also profiles on prominent KK orchestra members, color repros of KK movie posters, sheet music and magazine covers. I highly recommend this book to everyone! www.kaykyserbook.com (great sit) or www.amazon.com

This website spends most of its time explaining how they need donations to make a documentary by Kyser's daughter. A much more complete source for Kay Kyser information is kaykyser.net
