Watching our justice system in action can be very interesting and exciting. One way that one is able to observe it these days is on television. There are many shows that present two opposing parties arguing their case before a judge or justice who gives them a decision on who is right. Those shows are very entertaining, and today’s FamSite looks at one of the most popular ones on the air.

The site is called JudgeJudy.com, and is the online site for Judge Judith Sheindlin. Here you can learn about the person behind the gavel, how she got her start in New York in 1972 prosecuting juvenile delinquency cases. After retiring in 1996, she segued her career into a syndicated television show. Here you see and hear her dispense her unique brand of justice, see what cases are upcoming on her show, and even fill out a request to have her hear a case that you may be involved in. There is a special section for kids where she gives them some life lessons. There is even an area where you can ask Bailiff Petri Hawkins-Bird questions about his career and part on the show.

2/10/12 at 3:00 channel 29 I just watched Her show, wont dare call her judge,because she is a discrase to the judicial system.The violence she dismisses is criminal and she belongs in jail.You dont make a discrase of the judicial system or peoples problems for personal enrichment, especially when double talks and backtracks.In Phila where crime is running wild,this judge makes us sick by excusing violent behavior for any reason.She needs to learn how to talk to people. sickening, sickening she is.

Judge Judy you need to watch yourself on your shows and see how you look and act. You are the rudest person I've ever seen on television. You are so rude to people and your such a smart ass and not meaning brains either. We only watch your show because we want to see how you treat humun beings. You treat everyone like dogs. My husband said how could Judy's husband be married to such a bitch. You want people to respect you in court, well how can they when you have NO RESPECT for them. I don't understand why anyone would even bring their case to you. Isn't it about time for you to RETIRE!!!! "Oh what a happy day that will be!! I've never seen a human being, let alone a judge, who is so miserable everyday of her life. Then takes it out on others. Her ugly scowl, and immature behavior is a discrase to the judicial system. "I'm smarter than you on my worst day than you are on your best" "I've got things to do" "You've got 30 sec to state your case" "Idiot, stupid, moron, dumb" are her favorite names to call people. Not to mention the criticizing of ones looks. She doesn't look at important evidence or affidavits once she's decided she's got it all figured out. I've seen her back peddle countless times because she is so hasty. She doesn't listen, and that's what she's there for. Here's the most hypocritical thing she does...she has got the worst temper and rage of anyone in the courtroom, yet that's the very thing she condemns her litigants for! Judge Rudy!...Here's my biggest question to you Judy, Do you watch yourself on TV? If you do, do you feel any shame or embarrassment at all? I know you don't give a crap what anyone has to say about you, whether good or bad...it's the money you make.

The people who do not agree with you are more than likely the parents who let their children run wild, do not teach them the difference between right and wrong, let them think what is yours is mine and then blame the outcome on others. A good old-fashioned smack on the bottom with an explanation of why that happened never hurt a child but taught him or her there are consequences for doing wrong. For those who feel a smack on the bottom is child abuse (fools) they could use a time out in a chair in a corner for their child. I think it should be mandatory that parents get a tutorial from The Nanny. After her visit those parents have received parenting information and RESULTS. Her show should be mandatory watching for any pregnant woman.

In your courtroom you have adults in there and you talk to them like they are animals I bet you talk to your pets better than you talk to people. I have never been in a courtroom like yours and I hope I never do. Because I wil be put in jail or I will hav a big fine cause I will talk to you like you talk to everyone else. I watch Judge Judge regularly but feel like her views on step parents is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! I realize SOME people overstep their bounds with exes but judge Judy gives no step parent any respect and doesn't even listen to them!! She always says this doesn't involve you!!! I am personally the step mother of a three year old who's mother is in no way a mother to him. She MIGHT call every few weeks or every few months!! I am here for him EVERY single day!! I am the one who holds him at night because of the nightmares he has because of what she put him through when she had custody!!! And for a Judge to NOT realize so many parents are not resposible these days and unfortuneatley step parents have to be such a huge role in children lives these days. If you an realize that maybe you are outdated and need to retire!!!!

I am very disturbed about the attitude of Judge Judy. The way she comes across in HER so-called court-room is absolutely mindboggling. Well, she knows she is on TV and therefore she plays this role to the hilt. It is aparent that she has made up HER mind prior to hearing the case(s). Why do people want to have their cases heard by her in the first place? She should let everybody present their case without bias/prejudice. However, I strongly believe that the Judge doesn't even believe in fairness towards either the plaintiff/defendent. Also, the belittleing of the people stinks (pardon for the terminology) to high heaven. Who in the world does she think she is? Just because she is a "so-called celebrity" does not give her the right of "ignorants and arrogance". You probably ask why I am writing this. Well, I happen to tune into HER show and again it proofed to be the most injustice show I have seen so far. Well, thats ENTERTAINMENT!!

I have been watching Judge Judy for over a decade, she is so funny, she makes my day everytime I watch her once I get off work, I record her every single day that she comes on. I am one of her biggest fan's, my family and co-worker's call me a little Judge Judy want to be, LOL. I would Love to be in the audience, however it's not possible to do that because it's not for the public, they have the same audience for every show. Hopefully one day I can meet Judge Judy because she is the only one I like that appears on T.V or musical for that matter..... I have a dream and one day it will come true... Just got done watching Judge Judy, and let me tell ya, I have been a fan for years, but im changing my mind. She just got done calling a 20 year old kid and idiot, but in fact he was correct and Judge Judy is the idiot. He said his license was revoked even though he NEVER had a license. She said that could never happen, and preceeded to call him a whole bunch of names, well as a matter of fact, I personally had my license revoked before I even had one. I was 16 and got caught driving without a license, so they revoked my license till I was 17 1/2, they revoked it for six months.... So Judge Judy, your the IDIOT.... No longer a fan...

Judge Judy Sucks.... BIG TIME!!! She walks on stage (not into the court room... there is no court room) already knowing what she's going to decide. She doesn't listen to the people in front of her, she doesn't care. She's a VERY well paid actress. A friend of mine was duped into going on her show. One of my friends roommates attacked her after she had surgery for her cancer. My friend was able to stand up to the bully, until she was diagnosed with terminal Cancer. After her diagnosis, her condition deteriorated so rapidly that she nearly died before they could get her in for surgery. A week after her surgery (where she had the majority of her abdominal contents removed), she was on the couch & her roommate attacked her. Another roommate (who was afraid of the guy) called 911. She was on the phone with her son when the attack happened, he called the police as well. The guy took her phone, so she couldn't call the police. The guy sued her for false arrest & "Judge" Judy gave him $5,000!!! You can read about it & post your own friends horror stories on the Judge Judy sucks blog. Remember... everyone appearing on the show signs a contract forbidding them from posting anything on the internet. So, if you've got a horror story.... DO NOT post it!!! Don't get yourself in trouble!!!!! I had to do this for my friend, do this for your friends!!!

I love Judge Judy too... I think she trys hard to feel the truth and she comes prepaired to each case. I dont like evil people and when Judge Judy gets to them and gives them a peice of her mind and the Law ...I am HAPPY. there have been so many times I have been abused and "they" have gotten away with it...I guess her show helps .....

On your decision regarding Stewart vs. Kellog I am telling you that it was the most insane decision by a Judge that I have ever incurred.You ruled in favor of 2 people guilty of a felony.I am aresident of Taylors South Carolina and am a land lord.Section 8 is very specific regarding their rules.They send a set of rules the minute you accept theur conditions.The Stewarts lied to you.I am informing section 8 of this misscarrage and very likely you have put the Stewarts in a very dangerous position with the Law here.Very truly yours Arnold Emetico

You never hear of any charity work form this woman. And she makes 45 million a yr. Maybe more. Way to much money for one person. She puts down poor people. Hello Judge Judy, I absolutely love, respect and admire you. I have taped your program from the time I first saw and fell in love with the program. There are only two programs I tape, you and Judge Milian...but you are my Number One(smile). I have a tape for Mon-Tues...identified as Judges. I have read all of your books. Thank you for rendering the law the way you do. It teaches us a healthy respect for the judicial system. One of my only regrets is that I did not persue the law which was one of my dreams as a youngster but that okay...I judge the cases with you (smile). I also love Byrd. Judge Judy, What is wrong with you ? I watch your show but i can't understand why you are so mean ! Is it because you need to just quit what you do ? You don't give people a chance to say anything. You are the type of judge who goes by the way people look. If they aren't who or what you think they should be, then you just sound of on these people. How would you like to be treated like that ? I understand that you have to act a certain way for the ratings but dang you need to chill ! You act like you are better than the people that do come on your show. the only people that i've ever spoken to that DON'T like judge judy are those that believe that laws should be 'grey' and that no laws should exist as simply just right or wrong,that ALL legal rulings should be based on the surrounding circumstances instead of there being a point blank right and point blank no excuses 'wrong'/a good example of these kinds of people,are the ones that stand in front of judge judy and claim they're right and the LAW is wrong.(people who don't like the law because they don't feel it's fair to them so they shouldn't have to follow it...those are the kind of people imo,who generally don't like judge judy!!

Geneva Hi' judge judy,I had financial poblem March 20, 2007 I pawn my 2002 blazer to pay my house note and my kids father came over to my house and ask me that he would help me get the blazer out of pawn but i would have to put it in his name, So I told him that i would make out a contract and he have to sign it pertaining that he will return the blazer back to me once i give him the money of 2,300.00 back. so he sign the contract and he when a got a loan on my blazer and lost it,I when on Feb 19, 2008 and he told me that i can't get my blazer until i pay his loan and now the repo the blazer now could you tell me what could i do pertaining this matter. well I took him to a small claim court here in Detroit, and they told him that he would have to pay 4,000.00 back to me and it was some paper have to be send back their by Nov 5, 2008. please could you help me please my blazer was in good shape i pay 15,700 for it and it was pay off Jan 19, 2006 I purchase it March of 2005. if you need more informatiom you can call me at 313- 283- 2243 or email me. On your program the case where a plaintiff was being counter sued and plaintiff told you that he had not been served notice, the defendent could not proceed with case & she was to reserve plaintiff. (notice could not be proven that it was served.) My question is: If you can prove that notices were not sent to you but to your previous attorney who gave written notice to court and all parties that she resigned several months prior, can a hearing be held anyway? If not, what would be the next step if hearing was held and verdict upheld.

dear judge judy, i wanted to start out and say i think you and your show is great. iwatch you every day it is like a ritual. my friends laugh at me because i say it is jammie time and judge judy.i do have a big problem concerning the child support system in the state of florida.my x-husband is in arrears of 49,000.my case was court ordered in broward at the time of my divorce. iwas then in support enforcment division which did agood job in getting me child support. they then transferd me over to the department of revenue which has been a total nightmare. they do not set you up with acaseworker so you go from one person to another and the papers get shuffled around and nothing getsdone. this is been going on now for 6 years. i have done my own investigative work on where he works what he owns his license has been suspended for 5 years.he has not renewed or applied for anything including his license because he knows how to avoid the system.the dor has told me they cant serve him with papers because he works after 5:00. this is ridiculios. i have wrote the dor twice no response, iget the same run around every time.i have wrote the states attorneys office because i am very upset with this system.i have tried to provide for my children but it has been very hard. i cant afford an attorney but i am out of options. i think we need a better system for people who cant afford counsel but need and areentiteld to child support. i would like to know what i can do to get him into court.i live in palm beach now and would like any suggestions you can offer.

Please help me getting my $1.000.oo bavk from a New Jersey bankrucptcy lawyer I paid 4 years ago. I paid him the said amount for his services in August 2004. He didn't do work at all until I moved to Hawaii in May 2005. I left a forwarding address waited for papaer work from his office , none arrived, no work was done until this day. I went back to New jersey in June this year. Went to his office and wanred my money back. he asked a proof of payment which I had, told me he would mail it to me, I didd't receive anything to date. He won't return my phone calls at all and always has voice message on when I call. I just wanted to say that this is the first time I've ever read comments on Judge Judy. Most of them are quite funny, some are downright annoying. I can lean either way with Judy. There are days that I'd like to reach thru the tv and smack her and other days that the litigants need to shut up and go away. After reading the above letters I find that some who are so totally against her are probably the ones that she would make judgement against. If everyone who gripes about her would take the time to learn to spell and put into words correctly, maybe they would realize just how smart she really is. I don't remember hearing that you had to be "nice" to be a judge. Sorry if I offend anyone, but this is how I feel.

Judge Judy, There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings coming from your viewing public. I am of the opinion that in the grand scheme of things, you are helping the people that come into your courtroom. Sure, at times you may appear to be overtly harsh or slightly insulting, but at the end of the day justice is served. Sometimes people need to hear the hard words in order for the message to get across. At the same time you are capable of showing compassion within your process, and your understanding of the human psyche is unbelivable. It all comes down to how we pursue happiness in our lives - and how we attempt to quell the sorrow. Thank you for keeping a firm stance on the reality of situations and considering each person as they are. The work you are doing is strong, good, and powerful. I have learned much, and will continue to do so. Thanks.

I wish you were on every single day, I love your show and don't even mind the reruns. I think you and Marilyn Milan are the best in Judge show. You sure be back to back and on after 5PM when people like me get home late after work. A year and a half ago, I purchaed a set of furniture using the promotional plan of Citifinancial Retail Services which would provide me with free of interests until Jan. 16, 2008. I sent a personal check to pay the full amount of $2,264.19 on Jan. 8, 2008. But they sent a bill to me asking me to pay the ack interests in the amount $784.18. I called my bank and their customer services and unable to get the cancelled check back to me. The Citifinancial Retail Services, Custormer Services manage told us to get information from the Post Office that my check reached them on time, before Jan. 16 2008. I need your help, Judge Judy. I really appreciated the episode about the tow company that ripped off the woman by abducting her car and holding it for ransom. I have a friend who had a similar situation in NYC, courtesy of the franchised tow company. They took his car, stripped it, and then tried to sell the parts back to him.

Judge Judy, I watch you show nearly every day. I agree with your decisions most of the time. You missed a point a few days ago. A young man had wrecked his car several times, had gotten several tickets for reckless driving and his mother was upholding him. At the conclusion of the case you stated the young man was headed for a troubled future. The young man stated that he had enlisted in the Navy. Earlier he had said he dropped out of school when he was in his 11th year. The fact is, there is no branch of service that will take anyone without a high school education. Keep up the good work. Judge Judy, I know that I should have writen sooner this concerns the show of September 22,2006, concerning Cornerstone Christian School in Lake County Ca. I was a parent that wanted a better education for my child, here in Lake County my son was in 8th grade had special learning disabilities and I to thought that this kind of schooling would be better since public school teachers were telling they have to many kids in there classes and not enough man power. At this time the school was called Hilltop Christian School and Mr. England and Ms. Myer were also in charge. The school has closed this last year and they have moved to another location and once again started another school. My child is now 21 and off on his own but I would like to let it be known that I can't get eighther one of my boys in to a church since this school and the influnance of Mr. England and Ms. Myers. Is there anything that could be done to stop them! To me your show on September 22, 2006 was GREAT!!!!!!!!!! It was time that these people were taken down from their holyer that thou additude and put in their place. THANK YOU JUDGE JUDY!!!!!!

I have read many of the posts above and I have noticed that most of the people who find fault with Judge Judy, cannot spell, use grammar correctly nor even follow their ideas sequentially. What does this say? I think that Judge Judy is one terrific person who is doing an A class job. You can tell at the beginning of every case that she has read the complaint and researched the issue, so I don't know what you guys mean by 'unfair'. If there seems to be some bias against men, then let's face it- Chivalry is dead! Men act like pigs once the relationship is over, and our society is responsible for that. We treat men like kings, when most of them do not even have a clue how to keep the romance in their marriage, and how to maintain a relationship with their kids after separation. Judge Judy, you make television worthwhile and sensible. It's a pity that so many times you have to wade through the muck of stupidity, as evidenced by some of these earlier posts, that riddles America today!

I may have just watched the moody Judge Judy for the last time today. She thinks she is so high above others because she has a law degree and was actually making fun of people because they "only" had a high school diploma or Associate's Degree. Does she think this is going to sit well with her audience? This case involved Cornerstone Christian School in California. I searched the net, and it looks like there are a few of them. I wanted to write an email to them just to let them know how rudely they were treated. I don't agree with all of their practices, but no one deserves to be put down like she did to them.

Dear Judge Judy, I have been watching your show for a very long time and do admire you as a strict and professional judge. Sometimes, you are very reasonable with your judgments, and I do admire that because some people deserve your ruling. The show I looked at on Friday, September 21, where you had the child with "Special....." (?), I did not agree with the way you spoke to the two teachers/supervisors. I believe that teaching is a learning process and if people have been teaching for as long as 22 years, they have to be doing something right to continue! One can have the highest form of education i.e. Masters/ PhD, but experience is also knowledge. I know that you are a qualified judge who has been on the Bench for XXX number of years and therefore why do you make reference to your experience if it is not important. I think you were very rude to the defendants and demeaning as well. (All these special this, and special that to name a few for these kids with so called issues are the reasons we have so much deliquents in society because they are very much aware of their behavior and the results. One more thing, WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK PROFESSOR BIRD TO ACCOMPANY THE CHILD OUTSIDE WHILE YOU WERE MENTALLY ABUSING THOSE POOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE SO WELL OVER THE YEARS. Don't you usually do that with children of a certain age. I think you are leaving room for the child to be disrespectful to others, and no matter where he goes he will do the same because he knows he could get away with it! Judge Judy, lots of us look up to you as a Role Model, and we want to continue do so! I do love your show! Your avid watcher!!!!

Dear Judge Judy: Your Accountant Larry was WRONG when he told you that the case you were trying had to amend their tax return because they filed a married filing joint return. For one the information that you gave him over the phone shown on the show was not enough for him to make that determination. If he will look in Publication 17, page 19 second column almost middle of the column it will give you the instances where the tax code will allow an unmarried couple to file a joint return legally. AND it depends on the state that they live in. As the Publication 17 reads if the state recognizes a "common law" marriage so will the tax code. You did not say which state that this couple lived in but if it is in Alabama,Colorado, District of Columbia, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Utah. If you had this information prior it should have been aired because I teach income tax classes and I and my students were very upset by your ruling.

Judge Judy may be a very knowledgeable judge, but she is almost completely lacking in common courtesy. She uses her position as a judge to belittle and demean people who come before her to have their cases judged, not to be abused. No judge in any court I have ever seen could behave as poorly as she does and keep their job. I guess it says as much about the people who watch her show as it does about her that shes still on TV and as popular as she is.

I have a question. When you close a case and tell a person that they have to pay X amount of dollars, or return property, etc. what happens if the person fails to do what you said. I am currently writing a paper for my Race, Ethnicity and Popular Culture Course and after reviewing some literature written on this show as well as watching it frequently and reading two of Judy's books I must say I am appalled and once again shocked at how someone so ignorant could be on tv polluting the minds of people with her foolish ?there are no victims? philosophy. Judy grew up in a loving, middle class family and had many opportunities provided to her and if she wants to make claims that people who grew up in violent, households who had little money to eat and had to work three jobs to support their families are ?deadbeats? for not achieving the same status as her who on earth can really consider this women intelligent. The way Judy scapegoats poor people is beyond disgusting. Come on now, she can frame people on her show so they look like petty, lunatics all she wants with her rude remarks but if all you own is a radio and you can?t afford a new one who the hell should make you feel like a fool and embarrass you when you try to get it back? Let?s be honest there is something wrong with the division of wealth in our country which is in fact the root cause of most of the problems we face in society and NOT the fact that the working, lower classes are ?irresponsible? and ?lazy?. Judy Judy and everyone who believes in her ignorant views are actually a ?mirror of what has gone wrong in America?. I could go on forever but I have to finish writing my paper about this ignorant woman.

My son is impressed at the knowledge you have enquired and also the attitude you have earned. As most people watching your program we do not always agree with your decision, my son at 14 does not agree with much. He hears the way people speak on the show, their actions , he wonders how some people can be so 'dumb' and has come to the conclusion 'my life will really stink if I dont get an education!' They have to beautiful boys ages 5 and 3 years old. The problem is she is teaching them to be disrespectful to both me and my husband. They talk back to us, they stick their tongue at us, you name it they do it. You ask them to stop they don't listen. The oldest one is worse then the 3yr old. The oldest doesn't want to come see us. I feel that maybe we should just leave them alone and not bother with them, if they don't come see us. But I love these kids so much it hurts me. Dear Judge Judy: I have watched your show many times. I wondered if you might help me. It is quite a long story but this person at a service station sold me two new tires and then didn't put the lug nuts on good. I have tried to get him to pay but haven't had any luck. I called them when I first left the service station to tell them my car wasn't running right, they told me they couldn't send any one out to help me and I would have to drive 9 miles to the next exit and bring my car back. I drove a little further and got out of my car because I thought I had a flat, I left my car running because I was on a busy interstate and was going to get right back in my car. When I got out I locked my car accidently and was stranded on the highway for about 4 hours. A tow truck driver finallky came back and towed me back to the service station. The person who worked on my car admitted to me and the driver that he didn't tighten the lugnuts on the second tire. It wore my wheel and rim out driving it no further than I did, and it cost me about $500.00 plus the cost of two new tires that I didn't need. I stoped there to get gas and this person came up to me and said my rigfht front tire looiked a little low.I had spun off the highway before that so I thought maybe I did need him to check my tire then when I told him about my spin out he decided I needed two new tires.I was alone and on my way to Oklahoma to see my mother who was sick so I thought maybe I did need them although I did have only 7000 miles on my car.When he was all finished he told me I was good to go on to OPk. but I told him I thought I would just go back home. I was still in Florida and the weather wasn't getting any better. That's when I left and got back on the interstate and found my car didn't drive right. If you can help me in any way I would really appreciate it I have tried to call him several times and he keeps promising to send me some money but never has. I watch you show regularly and I enjoy learning about the justice system. This is just a question I would like to ask. When a divorced couple have to go to court over a support payment, and one has a lawyer and the other on doesn't but the court never notified the one without a lawyer and the hearing went on without him. The court admits they didn't notify him and he would like to know who to contact to see if he can have his case heard. If you could answer this I would appreciate it.

I do not know even where to start, Judy you are not a Doctor, how dare you tell a person they are not disabled. Yesterdays show raised the hair on the back of my neck. This poor guy, (disabled), works to redecorate his girlfriends solon, thinking he is working for her. Granted for the time period he had lived with her he had not pulled his own weight cash wise. But to tell the man to get a job, that you were going to forward a recording of the proceeding to his retirement agency. Just because he is disabled does not mean he can not perform tasks he is experienced at, at his own pace. How dare you make the judgement when someone should just take to a rocking chair. If it were not for men and women who refuse to give up and not do all they can, just who would man our volonteer positions in hospitals, thrift stores for anywhere from the Salvation Army to the soup kitchens. Shame on you. In public venues persons should keep personal oppinions to oneself.

Judge Judy: Maybe you can help me...I am a single mother of 4. When my ex and I split, I received custody of our children. I remarried and made a huge mistake by the choice of person that I married, and my ex received custody at that point. My children have lived with me for the last 2 years and I do not get ANY type of support. When I ask him to help, he gets angry and threatens to take the children. My son will not go with him on the weekend, as he has been abusive in the past, which was the reason that we split in the first place...I need help. I cannot afford an attorney, and Legal Aid does not have any room for this type of case. He makes $4,000 a month and stated he did not have to work again, if he did not want to, as he received an inheritance. The only way he will help me, is if I were to get back together with him, which is not an option. Can you please help me? I have supported myself and my 4 children without help for over 6 years. I have often worked 2 jobs and still made sure my children were taken care of. I have had 2 surgeries and 7 out patient procedures in the last 1 1/2 and I still worked, often going back after 3 weeks after major surgery. I need help. I need him to help with our children. hi, i watch your show everyday.my question is why do you talk to people like you do, calling them stupid,yelling and all.your a judge,you should have alittle more respect for others.your a very bright women i'm sure.but going after someone like that,calling names on tv when they have children with them,there parents also.why would you treat them like that.you are lucky to have the education you have,use it.you don't need to treat anyone like that.is it being on tv?i sat in court rooms in my area and i have never one time heard a judge act like that. thank you with respect.

My comments are ditto to those of Karen's on March 13th. She is telling it like it is. I don't understand why people comdemn a show and continue to tune in. That really tells you who the bright ones are. For others, who do not like the tone she sets with people, keep in mind the litigants chose to be on the show. They don't have to go on t.v. to have their cases settled. It was a choice they made and are paid to appear. As for me I admire her strenghth and ability to be an outspoken woman. After all, this is America we have the freedoms and privledges that other countries don't have.

Dear Judge Judy, I have reviewed your web site for viewers comments. After reviewing these comments, I feel justified in what I am going to say concerning your TV show Judge Judy. You appear to be a RACIST. Your black male court crier does not shield your deep seeded racism. I know whatg the outcome will be before you make a ruling. If the defendant or plaintiff is of any other race than caucasion they will lose. As of today, I no longer feel sorry for them because they should not have taken their case to your TV show. If they haven"t figured you out now then they are the unwise foolish people. The NAACP need to add you to a list of hostile people towards the races. Your husband was the same way. I hoped you would have been better but such is life. You have a good day and if possible, could you have a WARNING label placed on your show prior to airing. The reason I am writing is to ask you if it is possible to do what you did all through your career & that is family law. I just read all the comments that some of our 'finer' citizens in California have written. Talk about intelligent and well-educated - it's pretty scary to realize that THESE people share space in our state. Most of them are illerate; their grammer suggests they never got out of eighth grade; and they all watch Judge Judy. I wonder why - if they don't like your show - they just don't get off their posteriers and stop watching t.v. and go back to school and learn to read and write. The Judge Judy show is basically for entertainment, folks, even though it's all legal, has a real well-educated judge who is actually compassionate and extremely intelligent, and a judge who has the chutzpah to say what other judges think, but don't dare say out loud. If you don't like the show, get off your back end and go do some real work; and leave watching the show to those who are intelligent enough to understand and appreciate it. The show is well written; well-acted; and certainly this Judge knows her business - which is the law! Keep on keeping on, Judge Judy. There are a few intelligent homosapiens out here who appreciate what you do. I watch your show daily, and I've learned a lot. I was listening your show a few days ago, and some thing that you said really caught my attention. You told two young twerps on your show something that I am sure most people have heard all of their lives, (myself included!) You said that sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Hello Judge Judy, A few weeks ago you had a couple sueing because a child hit theside of their car and you blamed the adults. I, myself, always use exta precaucion when I see someone walking especialy children and even more so kids on bikes. Please read this in it's entirety before dismissing it. You stated that if a child is involved the adult is at fault reguardless of the sercomstances. In this case as I listend when the Lady stated that the boy came flying into their car I envisioned the accident. This was NO ACCIDENT the two boys had set up a ramp and the intent was to jump the car as it passed by. They fell short! The Boys delibertly blindsided the car. The car was struck on top of the fender NOT in the side as it would have been if the boy had come out between two cars. Your a Judge not an actress. Slow down, listen to the cases. Don't make up your mind due to It's a child, They're better dress, he/she showed a lot of emotion, the female comes out first. I know some women that have lied in court without ever touching onthe truth and they would have won the emy for their performance. You were once good at your job or you would be where you are today. It's time to look back think back and get back to the person you once were when the facts mattered and not the ratings. Your decisions are forever in the lives ofthe people you touch. I've been watching Judge Judy's court hearing since her first show and it's hard to miss unless I am not home. She's on three times a day in this area so if one wants to stay current with all her court hearings, it's easy enough. I've always respected Judge Judy's decisions and at time comments, however, today January 22, 2004 I watched a man who was suing to get his car repaired due to a child hitting his car with his bicycle. She maintained that it was the driver's fault and not the child's fault. She insinuated that maybe the man had gone to get an alcoholic bevrage before returning to his friends home. How sad for her to assume. This is one time that the word really applied toward her ass..u..me. I was a professional driver for many years, 17 to be exact and have encountered numerous situations where children dart out of driveways without looking whether on foot or on some sort of vehicle, eg. a bicycle. Whenever a small child dart into the street and strikes an oncoming car from the side, the child caused the accident and not the driver through negligence. Her decision today, tells kids that it's okay to dart out onto the road anytime they wish and if they run into a car or some sort of vehicle, it's okay because it's the driver's fault. I realize that she has been presiding as a judge for many years, but that does not ensure that she's always right. As a former police commissioner who witnessed accidents of this sort, I can assure you that many cases were decided in favor of the driver who had been struck by a child either on a bicycle or other object to include running into the vehicle with his or her person. Her decision this day was way out in left field and she should consider once in a while that she is not infallible. One final comment, her calling people stupid, fools etc is unprofessional, uncalled for and she needs to act more like a judge an not so much as an actor.

Judge Judy, Would you please tell me what you think of my situation? I'll try to shorten it. I have a 17 yr. old granddaughter that has been given me by social services. Her & I get along fine. My husband of 4 yrs. is jealous of her. He is a truck driver & is home about 2 days a week. She has been here a year. The last 4 months he did nothing but slurr her., calling her all kinds of names. She does not yell back. I tried sndining her to a friends when he was home,that didn't work. To make a long story short, he slapped her on the arm hard enough to leave a red mark & she called the cops. They sent her to my sons house. They picked my husband up for 2 hours & let him come home. He says she is not aloud back in his house. I have to see her when I can. She & I are very close. He said she will not come back even if it causes a divorce, he doesn't care. I've tried talking to him, it's no use. She is 17, but thinks like a 14. I feel he is trying to alianate me from my family. He wants to move from Louisiana to N.D. where his bro. & mother is. What do you suggest? I have a very good job & can get atrailer. Please answer soon. Carol

Her frequent use of the word tells me that it is probably her way of expressing her trademark. I myself do not like to hear people called stupid; most of us have learned from early on that calling someone that word is wrong; I think that is why so many people react negatively when she says what she says. I think the Judge Judy show is entertaining and informative; it is, however, the real thing in terms of small claims court. She is indeed a judge and the litagants are real--not actors. Judge Judy is tough; there is no way around that. However, how many people REALLY listen to what some of the litigants say and do. What choice does she have when their lives are a mess and her trying to help them goes right over their heads. How is that HER fault! I said this once and I say it again: if you people don't like her show and what it represents, then DON'T WATCH IT!! I must admit that as much as I admire the judge, even though not always agreeing, I would fear going before her without all my facts etched in stone. The bottom line, as I see it and am clearly no expert, is that she can see right through people and can't been bamboozled. Many of the people coming before her got the way they are because they spent their lives lying and deceiving not only others but themselves as well. Sometimes the "truth hurts." Rosemarie

Judge Judy, I am 58 years old and going back to school to be a paralegal. In my course of internship and personal experience, have found that the jugdes in San Antonio, Texas tend to give children to their mothers even though MOM IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST CHOICE FOR CUSTODY. When I heard you say this during one of your cases, I jumped for joy. At last a judge who has their act together. I hope you will continue to say things like that to raise public awareness that there are battered Husbands and little boys who are sexually molested by mom. Michael (my son) was taught that a man never hits a woman no matter what and that is his belief to this day. Their children have had to endure sexual abuse from this monstor they call mom because she has so instilled in them STRANGER DANGER that they won't talk to Child Protective Services when I reported the incidents they told me about. When they (CPS)asked her about the allegations (which they discussed with her over the phone days before so she had a chance to prepare the children)she had time to come up with plausible answers as well as threaten the children that they would be taken away to live with strangers if they said anything. She has tried to kill my son three times. My son stays with her just like any battered wife will stay with the husband who batters her. Child Protective services and the Judicial system have failed my family and I firmly believe (and have been told by a lawyer) it is because wife/mom is hispanic and we are white. I am sorry I am venting on your e-mail however I need help for my son and grandsons and don't know where to go from here (as a full time student I live on student loans and don't have $ to hire a good lawyer) and believe me I have exausted every avenue in SA, TX. Do you know of any avenues a man can turn to for help? These little boys stand to become preditors (in my opinion) if mom continues to have access to them and makes them think what she does to them is ok. No matter what I tell the judicial system (what the boys have told me about how she plays with their "p" and makes them play with her privates as well as the conversation at the time) she manages to turn it around and make it look like I am making it up to cause problems for her (my son, like any battered wife is afraid to say anything or to try to protect the boys from her because he thinks it will only be worse later) As one lawyer here told me recently, most of the Hispanic Judges have probably seen their moms abused by dad and can't phantom that dad could be abused by mom - thus their idea that mom is always best. Judge Judy, if you can continue to bring matters such as this to the attention of the public maybe we can get some closed minds to consider other options. My wife and I watch your show everyday. You have to laugh sometimes with the things people sue for. We sometimes wonder why the world is as it is. I do however feel that the cases involving children, ie. child support to name one, should be dealt with in a most serious and at times harsh manner. I paid child support for 13 years, what a responsible father should do. The only ones hurt in these situations are our children. I take exception to the fact that so many of you people do the very thing to this judge that you complain about. You accuse her of being nasty, you call her names, use profanity toward her, and threaten what you would do if you were in her courtroom. According to most of your writing skills, you have a lot to learn. Maybe it hurts to hear her "tell it like it is" in circumstances that need telling. Also, if you find her so offensive, why do you watch her? Watch something else. As for complaining that she scares the ---out of the kids, give me a break. They need it. She is kind but firm to the young kids; of course they are scared; I would have been too and would be today. As for the teenagers, tough talk is what they need and they need it now. They have to learn to be accountable for their choices. Their parents don't seem to think so. They are right there to defend them even when they know that they are wrong. If the parents can't own up to the problem, how on earth can the kids do it. Judy, continue being tough on kids while there is still time; adult criminals are much harder to help. To most of us with some intelligence and caring for the young people who will some day run this country, you give tremendous encouragement. You do what too often the teachers can't do; you can overrule the parents when they and their children are in the wrong. Judy, keep it up; these kids need you and you do make a difference to them. Judge Judy, I wrote comments yesterday, but I failed to mention the statement you give to young women: "you will have lots of friends, but you will get only One Mother." That impacts on me; like you I also lost my mother to cancer when she was but 57 years old; she too was misdiagnosed. I was 25 and left with an eight month old baby girl. Sadly, to this day, we do not get along. No matter what I try, she is usually mad at me for something, not that I have never given her cause. The worst is that we had and argument and now she has all but shunned. I have tried to make amends, but to no avail. I hope so much that she will hear those words of wisdom conerning mothers and daughters. My mom never lived to see my daughter grow up and never even knew my son who was born two years after her death. I never realized how wonderful my mother really was until after she was gone. I can only be grateful that we were on speaking terms with no hard feelings. We had our share of arguments, but none without resolution. It is a shame that we don't think in our young years what we know to be true so many years later.

Although Judge Judy is very tough, occasionally too much so in the way she presents to the litigants, I feel that she is truly committed to making a difference for people whose lives are in turmoil or who need direction. I think underneath all that tough demeanor, Judy is a very caring person; some people just need a little "toughing up." All of us at one time or another can use a bit of humbling advice; her show clearly illustrates how desparately so many of our misguided comrades need to find their way; I think that in her own unique way she helps to make that happen. Also, I admire her accomplishments and wonder how many of her critics know of the heartbreaking, nerve wracking job she had while in the Family Court. How many people could stand up to that kind of pressure; a job like that and her dedication to it require a tough stamina. I am her age to the month and am a teacher; I do so admire her for accomplishments, including her books. Keep talking, Judy. They will listen and it will sink in. I would hate to think that all of her advice and hard work are for naught.

And many times you side with the woman even if she is wrong. Yes I am a female but many times the female is the one in the worng and you grant the case to the women and that is not right. Dear Judge Judy can you please help me collect money owed to me i loaned it to a friends son so he can have food in the house and get his car reg in the state of Florida,He had to get back and forth to work because he has a lil girl and was seperated at the time.Since then he and his wife got back together and they both make good money.They also owe me for being in my house why i was in the hospital for 10 days with Epilepsy seizures and i was very sick they ran up my phine bill with long distance calls and some on my power they also had a friend with them.They know all i have as income is SS and i don't my power is ready to be turned off so is my phone. Dear Judy, Watch you all the time & hope you can help me. Over 1-1/2 years ago I bought a German Shorthair pointer dog from what I thought was an honorable woman. The dog was supposed to be registered with AKC. I gave $1,000.00 cash for the dog. Turns out the woman never registered the litter although both parents are registered. Is there anyway you can help?? Sueing this woman in our area courts would mean lots of money from me & no guarantee that I would win. There were 8 puppies in the litter, she kept one. There are 6 other people out there who are in the same boat as I am. We all gave top prices for what was suppost to be registered AKC dogs & to my knowledge no one has gotten their papers in this litter yet. How should I proceed???? Susan Bailey

I think Judge judy is rude,crude and really impressed with herself. She needs to go back to school and take a course in common courtesy. No real judge would be allowed to act the way she does, they would be thrown off the bench. As for Bird, does she really think he intimidates anyone, PLEASE!!!!

Hi big fan always watch, ( for many years)But i have noticed that when their is a engaged coupl that does not work out when It is the women saying that they made a loan to the man you side with the woman MOST of the time about 90% of the time. But when it is the MAN trying to gain judgement aganst the woman you again side with the woman WHY IS that???... THANK IN ADVANCE.
