In today’s society, respect is a cultural value that seems to be slipping. Many of the people that in the past that were held in esteem now seem to be relegated to nothing roles in society. There are many reasons for that, but that is not the subject of our Family First Site today. How do we teach our young people to respect others in society. One way is by providing positive role models for them to see. You can start by being on to your children (and their friends), and by pointing out those characteristics in others. Before long, you will see a change in them. Today’s Family First Site looks at a product that can help achieve those means.

The name of the site is called Curiosoft, a company that creates learning tools that inspire your child’s curiosity. Their software teaches that learning how to learn is much more important than memorizing facts. It is important to learn what is behind those facts. They also feel that the purpose of learning is to develop and find one’s self-identity.
Their premier program is called the Jr. Series. This series introduces children to positive role models, and inspires children to take advantage of life’s opportunities. They do this by assuming the roles of a veternarian, a doctor, and (coming soon) a scientist. In Jr. Doctor, the player travels through a fairy tale hospital, and help cure the sick characters. The purpose of the game is to give an insight to the medical profession, teach reasoning, logic, and listening skills, all in a fun way. The same premise is used with Jr. Vet and Jr. Scientist.
The company also offers other products, such the Genius Series ( cerebral version of the Jr. Series), puzzles, and screen savers. All are available for purchase, and some are available for a free download. A new UCLA Medical Research Study shows that kids and teens who have role models have more self-esteem, higher grades, and a stronger sense of identity.
