How to Beat Your Creative Blocks

Every entrepreneur or new business owner knows how frustrating it can be to sit down to a project and feel like they are totally out of ideas. It happens to everyone, and there are usually distinct causes and distinct solutions. There is no arguing, however, that entrepreneurship requires massive amounts of creativity, to come up with products, company mission statements, advertising and marketing ideas, and branding ideas and copy. So the next time you hit a brick wall in the creativity department, maybe you should try one of the following:

Take a Walk

Getting your mind off the thing you are working on when it is going nowhere is sometimes the best thing you can do to get the creative juices flowing again. Walk around the block, or go to the country and walk where no one is around, but many people have attested to the fact that physical exercise can often help release mental blocks.

Meditate

Sit quietly somewhere you won’t be interrupted and try to clear your head of all thoughts. Focus on your breath as it goes in and out. Sound simple and maybe pointless? It is actually extremely difficult and entirely useful if you get good at it. Everyone from top CEOs to star athletes practice meditation regularly to clear their minds and focus on only the most important tasks on hand. Give it a try.

Free Write

Just put pen to paper and write for either a predetermined amount of time or a predetermined number of pages. Don’t worry about what you are writing, just do it. This has the effect of emptying the contents of your mind onto the page, and clearing it of any unnecessary worries or negative self-talk.
