Researching one’s family history and tree can be a fun project. Discovering a family’s roots lets a person find relatives that they never knew of, and find links to historical events that their family participated in. Today’s FamSite offers some tools and help with genealogical research that can prove helpful.

Called Family Tree Magazine, it is the online version of a new monthly publication. There is quite a bit of information available on this site that can compliment anyone who is doing family research. There is a free email service, search facilities, forms that can be downloaded, a bookstore, correspondence course, and online resource guide. There is information on family reunions, speakers, organizations and conferences, as well as a weekly newsletter.

This site is a valuable tool to anyone doing family history or genealogical research. Be sure to bookmark it as I am sure you will want to return to it.

PRESS RELEASE Date: August 27, 2010 The Biography Club www.thebiographyclub.com NEW ONLINE BIOGRAPHY WRITING CLUB A new website has been launched for book lovers and budding writers, and focuses on biographies. It is the only online writing/reading club to specialise in biographies. Whether members are recording their memoirs, researching a book about a historical figure, or just want to be updated on the latest books, The Biography Club can be a valuable resource. The website features new book releases, news reports from the world of biographies, interviews, a forum, online seminars, advice pieces from authors, and more. Every six weeks, a new edition of the website will go online (a bit like the publication of a magazine). The first and current edition has an interview with author/surgeon Gabriel Weston, who recently won the PEN/Ackerley Prize for her book, Direct Red. Also online is a 30-minute seminar about memories and how biographers can get the most out of their subjects, and a forum thread devoted to earliest childhood memories. Guest speakers for future seminars will be drawn from the publishing world, and will focus on diverse topics such as ‘How to inject humour into a biography’ to self publishing and researching family history records. Members are encouraged to get involved, such as by commenting on each others’ work, discussing books, and posting advice tips/questions in the forum. With a fast-growing membership base, it is set to be one of the most active groups of its kind online. More details from: Jennie Jones The Biography Club www.thebiographyclub.com [email removed]
