Today, at FamilyFirst , we celebrate trivia.
The site is entitled didyouknow.org. It’s a trivia freak’s paradise!
I’m talking trivia that is absolutely addictive. For instance, did you know that Gibraltar is named after a former slave? Did you know that Mercedes cars are named after an Austrian girl? How about the fact that the Hundred Years War lasted 116 years, from 1337 to 1453? Or that a camel’s hair brush is made of squirrel fur?
Yeah, you’re hooked now, aren’t you? That’s okay, so am I.
The trivia is arranged in meticulously indexed categories. Celebrities, cell/mobile stuff, music, sports, literature, phobias, the Bible, and many others. My favorite is called Huh?. It features facts like the above-mentioned Hundred Years war and camel’s hair brush trivia.
Under Phobias, find out what the names of fears of such diverse objects as animals, baldness (afraid? ME?), body odor, flying, heat, itching, lying, metal, mothers-in-law, philosophers, thieves, small objects, and taking tests (among many, many more).
Find out why we call thirteen a baker’s dozen. What the names of the three wise monkeys are.
And it’s not all trivial. The Usable Info section contains gems such as how to winterize your windows and doors, ten tips to keep you and your car running smoothly, how you can keep kids safe around water, and much more.
So have a blast at today’s FamilyFirst site. Then have some friends over for a good game of Trivial Pursuit.
