Casa de la Madres

There are times in all our lives that we need the help of others, whether it is family, friends, or an agency. In today’s society, the Internet has become an excellent clearinghouse for information on where to go for the help that you or a loved one needs. As more and more agencies go online to provide help, it becomes easier and easier to find what you or your loved ones need.
Today’s Family First Site looks at a site that tells of a program helping battered women and children. Called La Casa de la Madres, it is physically located in San Francisco, California. At their website, you can find out not only about the services they offer, but why they offer what they do. In addition shelter, there are counselors available to offer support and an ear to listen. The staff informs them of their legal, financial, and emotional options. In short, the entire scope and mission of the agency is explained here, with all the phone numbers that are needed. They have recently expanded their program to include services to include battered and at-risk adolescents and their children/siblings. They help teens recognize potentially abusive relationships, identify contributing behaviors, such as alcohol and drugs, and gain an understanding of how the “Cycle of Violence” applies to their lives.
Sites such as this are perfect examples of how the Internet is becoming a commonplace medium for information. It is taking its place alongside our daily paper and yellow pages as a ready resource and reference. With the growing popularity of smart phones, before long you will not only be able to find the information but make calls from the same device.
