Today’s Family First site is one for the Thanksgiving season, one that looks at a site that centers on the history of the Mayflower, and the people who sailed on it. It is a wealth of historical information.

Called Caleb Johnson’s Mayflower Web Pages, this site is a plethora of information about anyone who sailed on the ship, and their descendants. If you or anyone you know is doing genealogical research, this site is a must for them. There is extensive information about the Mayflower documents, such as the Mayflower Compact. One section I really enjoyed was a visit to the European sites that are connected to the Pilgrims.
The amount of historical information contained on this site is truly amazing. The little known details that come out here are worth passing on to a friend or associate. It is especially helpful for doing genealogical research.

I THOUGHT I descended from Stephen Hopkins. My records show he had a daughter named Mary who married Edward Church. There is no Mary that shows up in HERE SHALL I DIE ASHORE as a dau. of Stephen. There is a Mary, daughter of Giles Hopkins who marries Samuel Smith. Where is my Mary?

I have a Mayflower passenger list that was in an old bible 1870 . you are missing 4 men passenger, Richard Britteridge,Peter Brpwn, Samuel Fuller, Ed Fuller ,my list only list each male an how members in family an 4 servants which you listed but maybe didnt know who they are. this I believe is a New York paper.

William Sole is listed as a "1587 Colonist" in the Lost Colony at Roanoke. ("The Lost Colony Center for Science and Research, List of Participants in the Roanoke Voyages" on November 26, 2008). I noticed the name of William Sole while trying to do Internet research on George Soule of the Mayflower. Perhaps there were more Soules/Soles in Old England than there are now. Are the names of Sole and Soule mere spelling variations of the same name? Is there any chance that William and George were related?
  7. J. Mitchell says:
Joan Sole was burned at the stake in England on January 31, 1556, along with four others during the Catholic persecution of emerging Protestantism (FOX'S BOOK OF MARTYRS, CHAPTER XVI). I descend from George Soule of the Mayflower, and I know that researchers are trying to discover his lineage. My branch of George Soule's family in America was heavily into the Quaker religion, which seemed to be a continuation of the Protestant ferment from an earlier time. Whether Joan Sole's last name is significant in a history of the Soule family is beyond me, yet it seems possible. Can some English researcher help here?
  8. John Philip Adams says:
Why isn't ther more information on Thomas Weston? he arranged for the boats. he snet them to Virginia, except they lied and went to Maasachusetts to escape thier contract with the invetment group that put up the money for them to go to the new world? Weston is the last guy brought up by any researcher and if it weren't for him they would still be on the dock in Holland!

I happen to read your article, The Mayflower's dark side, and saw tht you were at Texas Tech when you wrote it. I was abe to get my linage back to Issac B. Doty born around 1745 or so in Tennessee I am wondering if you have any history farther back than that? I would love to tell people that I can trace my ancestory all the way back to the Mayflower. Just not mention old Eddie. (-:{>
