Ashley’s Story

On September 11th, 2001 our nation suffered one of the most tragic events in our history. Even though it only happened just over three years ago, we still cannot hope to understand the impact it has had on our daily lives. Many images of that day, and the events afterward, will forever live in our minds. Some of them make us laugh, some make us cry, some make us realize how strong we are, and some make us reflect on how far we have come as a nation, and how far we still have to go. Today’s Family First site is on that has frozen a moment in time, and reflect on those very thoughts.

Called Ashely’s Story, this site is about a young girl whose mother was killed in the attack on the World Trade Center. The events of that day affected her terribly, and she had closed up emotionally. She now lives with her father in Ohio. Recently our President traveled through Lebanon, Ohio, and Ashley and her family went to see him (as she had with her mother 4 years earlier). A friend told him about Ashley, and he spent a few moments with her, and gave her a hug. It made Ashley feel that while he was the most powerful man in the world, he only wanted to make her feel safe. Her father summed it all up with his words “What I saw was what I want to see in the heart and in the soul of the man who sits in the highest-elected office in our country.”
So much is conveyed in this story. Many reviews are calling this one of the most impressive and powerful messages to surface in this election year. Stop over at this site, and be prepared to have your emotions run through the ringer. Mine was.

If "I'm Lying" Kerry were at this rally that Ashley was at and was told that Ashley had lost her mom on Sept 11, would have done the same thing? I doubt it very much. He is a dishonest man. There is no compasion in him, that's why he lost the election and George W. Bush was formally made president today. Shame on those who question the validity of Pres. Bush's compasion for those who lost loved ones on Sept 11.

First to Ashley i want you to know my heart and many others go out to you, i pray for you and hope that you are some how blessed through this tragady. Second to the people who think it is appropriate to post your anger and political standings on this site, its NOT, September 11 is no one individuals fault it was a tragady and if anyone is to blame it is terrorists. Rather you like George Bush or not this is not the place to express your feelings, this is a site for Ashley and the fact that George Bush took the time to stop and ask and care shows alot of character on his be half and you cannot fake an emotion his innital facial expression was of true compassion and i'm sure thats what was in his heart. Interesting how you see Bush as "the man who allowed this terrorism to come about", when he had only been in office less than a year on Sept. 11, 2001.. so we're to believe that one man, in the span of nine months, singlehandedly inspired the hatred against our country that led to the attacks? Give me a break. Not that I'm saying Bush has done everything right, but blaming him alone for the attacks is ridiculous. As for the ad, I think it's moving, yes, but doesn't really sway me either way. Are we supposed to believe that any other president would NOT have tried to comfort the girl? Come on.. even John "Eeyore" Kerry is human..

I saw the ad for ashleys story. It moved me in a way that All Americans should be moved. Together again. That fateful day briefly had everyone buying flags, talking to each other and of a mind "Never again". Somehow that all was lost again in the heat of campaigning. Ashleys story should be seen by everyone. When the president took the time like he did with Ashley he was not presidential at that moment. He was a father then,a father of two young girls trying to ease the pain of someone elses child. It spoke volumes about him. That is what I too want in a leader. For all the Ashleys in the world, may they be few and far between. The comment by Sharon was obviously a democratic talking pointer invading your website to take shots at Mr. Bush. THEY have no shame. God Bless you Ashley. Your Mom is watching you, and she is proud. Never doubt that. You will meet again. The best tribute you can give her is to live a good life and stay true to your values. Too many young people have forgotten that.

GET REAL PEOPLE!!! I'm sorry for ashley but many people were lost that sad day this is one major political advertisement for bush to take money using their loss. Look at the picture he's posing for the camera. If Bush would admit that the world was changed that day due to HIS mistakes and we continue to loose our troops due to HIS mistakes and lack of leadership maybe something positive could come of this. How many children lost a parent or unborn children that will never know their fathers because of Bush's incompatence and neglect of the nation. Now he poses for the camera and uses a young girl to tug our emotions to play us for fools when he is the man in charge trying once again to fool us into backing him. He called an end to this war yet service personel, soldiers put their life on the line daily to fight his battles. Dont you think homeland security is a little late. Im devistated that people are willing to exploit a young girls tradgedy and a picture for a presidential campainge. I'm apalled that this is a primetime commercial for our vote. To me anyone willing to back the man who allowed this terrorism to come about and then turns others tragedy to win votes is voting for more needless deaths. YOU SHOULD HANG YOUR HEADS IN DISGRACE AND SHAME!!!!!!!!! I PRAY YOU ARE NOT MY NEIGHBORS. BUSH SURE HASNT CONSOLED ME OR MANY MANY OTHERS WHO LOST LOVED ONES THAT HORRIFIC DAY MAY THEY ALL REST IN PIECE
