A New Way to Read Books

There are traditional books and there are Kindles and Nooks and Readers but now there’s also the complimentary way for kids to read books – interactively.

Mrs. P (www.mrsp.com) the award-winning free children’s storytelling website is announcing the release of their very first interactive book today – November 9, 2010.

The book, Mrs. P’s Four Favorite Fairy Tales and Funny Stories (Mrs. P Enterprises, LLC, 978-0125393551, $19.95)  is a collection of four stories:

  • Jack and the Beanstalk”
  • The Emperor’s New Clothes
  • The Frog Prince
  • Sleeping Beauty

The special part about this book is that instead of simply reading the book, which contains over 90 colorful illustrations, children can also listen as Mrs. P reads the story on-line while they follow along in their own books. Mrs. P is played by Kathy Kinney, best known for her role as Mimi Bobeck on “The Drew Carey Show”.

“I’m very proud of Mrs. P’s new book because of its unique ability to help young readers improve their skills,” said Kinney. “Children and parents can open the book and read along with me at my website.  We even have a Magic Dictionary at MrsP.com, so if kids come across a word they don’t know, they can just pause the video and easily find out what it means.”

If you would prefer to purchase an electronic copy of the book, you can do that at Mrs. P’s website. Click here to watch a short video about the book.

According to Mrs. P, children learn to read better when they not only hear the words, but also see them so this interactive book brings both for kids.

“Everyone’s worried about the Internet making books and reading obsolete.  We’ve found a wonderful way to make them work together,” Kinney said.

Ten percent of all MrsP.com’s after-tax profits from these sales will be donated by Mrs. P Enterprises, LLC to literacy organizations.
